Suprise Breakout Actress 2025

This has been a big year for movies. Since January, countless films have hit cinemas, introducing us to many memorable characters and performances. But one name and one face you’ve likely seen more than most on screens this year is Omowunmi Dada.

You’ve probably seen Omowunmi Dada in Everybody Loves Jennifer, the highest-grossing Nigerian film in history. Some may know her as Grace Eniola in the Netflix historical drama about Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, one of Nigeria’s pioneering feminists. But for many, she will always be Rosemary in Netflix’s Mama Koi-Koi, the chilling horror film inspired by an old secondary school legend.

Since stepping into Nollywood, Dada has shown no signs of slowing down. In 2025 alone, she has starred in 14 films each one a chance to showcase her range, depth, and unmistakable presence. As the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as a small role, only small actors”, and Dada proves she is anything but small.

Finding Me on Amazon Prime

This year, she appeared in Finding Me, teaming up with Funke Akindele in a drama streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and in Red Circle, a gripping crime-thriller where her character’s murder drives the story. The film also features Lateef Adedimeji, who starred in eleven films in 2025 including Ginger, Raji and the Beast, and Summer Rain, making him one of the year’s most prolific actors. Other standout performers this year include Genoveva Umeh, who appeared in six major films, including the widely talked-about Netflix release The Herd.
